Friday's Field Trip

Students participated in a scavenger hunt along Broadway in Paducah looking for such things as graphic art, textile designs, relief sculptures and architectural features. We also went to the park and created a Nature Installation using found objects in and around the walking path around the lake. We talked about how art can be created from Nature and reviewed the elements of art that were incorporated into our design.

Game Board Day!

A Fabulously Fun Friendly Friday!!

Today was the big day!! Well, the big game board day! We worked all week on our designs and today we actually played the games! I haven't heard that much laughter in a long time. We had cop cars chasing getaway cars, little nubbies hopping around another board, pretty little girls kissing monkeys and hugs for Ms. Smith all part of some of the fun games being played. Next week third period will be playing their games so keep up with what's going on! It's getting very fast paced these last few days of school. Please excuse the repetition of some photos. What was I thinking!!!

The girls have worked hard this softball season and because of that hard work they are in Louisville right at this moment preparing to play in the State Tournament! The cute hot pink Tshirts say "I'd rather wear cleets than heels," because the team has to miss prom because of tournament play. We're going to miss them at prom tonight but we're behind them all the way!! GO LADY CARDS!!!!!

Earth Day Celebration!

We celebrated Earth Day in Art Class by setting aside our use of paper and reusing materials that I have been collecting for some time (15 years). At the end of each school year I have saved the lids off of the Crayola Markers so I had a huge box full of the bright, colorful plastic lids. I also had a big box of puzzle pieces, dominoes and craft sticks that students could use as part of their relief designs. We worked in small groups to come up with original ideas. At the end of the class period we photographed our work and then everything went right back in the boxes for the next class to use. Maybe we're onto something here!!! I know we had fun doing this!!! Happy Earth Day everyone!!!!
