Line Weaving Mania!

The Letter "O"

By Teris

The Drawing Game

Students had very specific rules for playing this game. No one was allowed to speak during the instructions, no one could ask any questions, and no one could peek at anyone else's drawing to see what they were doing. The instructions were to draw four straight lines from one edge of the paper to the other, draw two curved lines starting at the edge of the paper and ending somewhere in the middle, draw three circles and then add color. Students always panic because they think that there is a specific way to do this drawing when it fact it promotes creativity. Even though each student heard the same set of directions they all came up with some fabulous unique non-objective designs.

Yarn Art Projects

During our study of the art element of Line students completed designs using Yarn as their medium. We moved away from the formal use of Line to an unusual way of creating our pieces.

Does anyone know where we could get some Lucabond (SP?) at an inexpensive price? We have a project we would like to do on school grounds and need several sheets to get it done.

Yearbooks

Yearbooks go on sale in November. Not sure yet what the specific date is but I'll let you know as soon as I find out. Senior superlatives were announced today too. We had several art students who made the list. They're all SUPER to me!!!

Prestigious Art Students

The Livingston Central Art Department is proud of four of it's own who were voted to the 2008-2009 LCHS Student Council. Not pictured is Mariah Owen who was away at a golf tournement when the photos were taken. Teris Moodie president, Mariah Owen Secretary, Kayla Gray, Treasurer and Chance Wright reporter.

Getting Back

Today was a pretty hectic day. Everybody seems to be a bit hyper. We must have all had a great five days off. You'll notice if you come to the high school that there are more changes being made around the place. Thanks to a concrete grant there are new concrete steps out by the kitchen, wheelchair ramps and a couple of pads that were poured for the dumpsters. Sure does make the place look nice. There may even be concrete for parking spots for the new nurse and her aid. Things are looking up at LCHS.

The Hill is Complete!

It looks amazing!!!

Lakin's Landscape

Redesigning the Scream

Norwegian born Edvard Munch painted the famous painting The Scream recreating a vision he had one night as he walked with two of his friends. Art II students were asked to re-design The Scream showing their own modern interpretation of what might make them scream. Some scream at gas prices, others scream when UK plays Louisville. Our most recent drawings show lightening, spiders and Olympic athletes causing problems. We've had a lot of fun with this project and we also learn about current events as we select our subjects.

More Oil Pastel Fish

Teris and Jessice both did a great job!
