Today we were all a bunch of cut ups in Art I classes. Well, not really cutting up in our behavior but we did cut up tons of old magazines so that we could make our collages. We just finished our first chapter and today we are using all of the Art Elements and Principles of Design to create some really cool designs. This activity helps to reinforce those terms and we get to have fun at the same time. Advanced Classes are wrapping up their shading exercises with a final project tomorrow which will be to draw and actual apple. First students will do a basic contour drawing, no shading, next they will add lots of shadows and detail, the next step will be to take a slice out of the apple and sketch again and finally they will use a view finder and do simple thumbnail sketches of the apple abstracting each sketch. Should be fun. T.M. suggested we even slice the apple more and make stamp designs. Hope to post some of those when we are all finished. Stay tuned!!! Oh I almost forgot.
